Aftercare & MaintenanceYour comprehensive guide to caring for your vinyl graphics or wrap
Aftercare & Maintenance: Summary
Our team at Stripe Master Ltd prides itself on a quality service from start to finish and that is why we have put together a comprehensive aftercare and maintenance guide to ensure that the graphics on your vehicle are fully protected.
Aftercare & Maintenance: The First 48 Hours
Once the vinyl has been applied to your vehicle the next couple of days’ maintenance is as important as the application process itself.
The glue layer will still be settling down on the panels and it is vital at this stage that it is not disturbed. This means that jet washing your vehicle is not advised. If for any reason you need to clean your vehicle within this time frame, carefully run over the vinyl with a damp sponge, ensuring not to catch any edges or thin layers of vinyl.
Aftercare & Maintenance: Regular Washing
We advise to wash the vinyl regularly using the conventional water and soap method. Any heavy dirt or grime that is allowed to sit on the vinyl over a long period of time may be more difficult to to remove and potentially stain the vinyl.
Hand washing is the recommended method of cleaning however, should you choose to use a pressure powered jet wash, please take into consideration the following points:
- Ensure that the water pressure is kept below 2000psi
- Keep the water pressure below 70°C
- Keep the end of the spray nozzle at least 1 metre away from the vinyl
We strongly note that automated car washes are NOT recommended as they have the potential to easily damage the vinyl and cause any edges to lift or flake off.
In the instance that heavy dirt becomes difficult to remove, soak the areas of dirt with hot and soapy water for several minutes, allowing it to soak through the dirt. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately. It is important that tools such as scouring pads or abrasive cloths are NOT used as these will damage the vinyl film.
Aftercare & Maintenance: Storage
Over time, prolonged exposure to the sun and other elements will naturally degrade the vinyl film, particularly on surfaces such as the roof and bonnet. If possible, we would advise to store the vehicle under cover or in shaded areas during the day.
If you do notice that the vinyl film is fading in areas, then it would be wise to contact a member of our team at Stripe Master Ltd and arrange for a quick consultation. In the worst case scenario, it may be advised to remove the vinyl to prevent damaging or staining the underlying paint. Please note that this would only occur in exceptional circumstances.
